Prepare time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 55 minutes
Ingredients
- 8 oz. of cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- ⅔ Cup of buttermilk
- 1 (3.4 oz.) box of vanilla instant pudding mix
- ½ cup of vegetable oil
- 1 box of butter-flavored yellow cake mix
- 4 large eggs
- 14 oz. of milk chocolate bar, chopped into pieces
The Procedure
Soften the Cream Cheese
Soften the cream cheese after taking it out from the refrigerator and make sure it gets back the soft and spreadable texture.
Prepare the Chocolate Pieces
Cut the chocolate bar into small pieces to make it light enough so it doesn’t sink. Alternatively, you can also use small chocolate chips. Then preheat the oven to 175° C.
Blend the Boxed Mixes
Take a large mixing bowl and pour the yellow cake mix into it. Blend them using an instant pudding mix and divide them into two portions.
Prepare the Wet Ingredients
Take another medium bowl, pour cream cheese, and beat them using an electric mixer at low speed to it becomes softened and smooth. Add buttermilk and oil to the mixture. Don’t worry, even if it doesn’t look smooth completely.
Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients
Combine the dry ingredients to wet items and mix eggs with them on low speed until they combine properly.
After a while, raise the speed to medium and beat for around one and a half minutes. You should have smooth cake batter and might not notice any dry ingredients.
Add Chocolate
Keep two to three tablespoons of sliced chocolate aside and add the rest to the cake batter. Mix and distribute the chocolate chips into the batter using a rubber spatula.
Prepare and fill the Cake Pan
Grease the tube pan using Baker’s cooking spray. Put batter into the pan and place it on a baking sheet. That’ll make it easier to place in and out of the oven while catching any spills.
Bake the Cake
After placing the cake into the oven, bake it for around one hour. If you notice the sides pull away from the pan, it means the baking is finished.
In addition, the top of the cake should also look golden brown. To determine, stick a toothpick in the cake’s center. If it comes out, it means the bake is finished.
Cool the Cake
Once the bake is done, remove it from the oven and place it on a wire rack and let it cool for around 15 minutes. Then hold a wire rack on the cake’s top and invert it.
The pan will slip off the cake easily. Finally wrap the cake in plastic paper and serve or store.
